Gates Foundation delegation discusses digitalization with Pakistan’s IT Minister

Islamabad, A delegation from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation met with Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, to discuss advancements in the country’s digital infrastructure.

According to Press Information Department, the delegation, led by Deputy Director Jason Lamb and the Foundation’s Country Lead in Pakistan, Syed Ali Mahmood, explored various topics including the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP), fiberization, connectivity, and digital payments. Also present at the meeting was CEO of Karandaaz Pakistan, Waqas ul Hasan, and Director General International Coordination, MoITT, Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi.

Minister Khawaja emphasized the current government’s commitment to enhancing digitalization, which she noted is key to improving public service delivery and increasing transparency. The initiatives discussed aim to facilitate both citizens and businesses through improved connectivity and digital infrastructure. The Gates Foundation expressed its support for these efforts, aligning with the government’s vision to foster a robust digital economy in Pakistan.
