Karachi: Ghandhara Tyre and Rubber Company Limited, formerly known as The General Tyre and Rubber Company of Pakistan Limited, announced a significant change in its technical services partnerships affecting its operations and strategic direction. The company revealed the termination of its longstanding agreement with Continental Global Holding Netherlands B.V., set to conclude on August 31, 2024, and the commencement of a new partnership with Shandong Huasheng Rubber Co., Ltd. starting September 01, 2024.
The Karachi-based tyre manufacturer, in a strategic pivot, will replace its seven-year collaboration with Continental Global, which began on January 1, 2018, and was slated to end in December 2024. The decision to conclude this agreement prematurely comes as the company secures a fresh alliance with Shandong Huasheng Rubber Co., Ltd. (SHRC), a noted player in the tyre industry from the People’s Republic of China. This new partnership, under a Technical Services Agreement, will span seven years, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this move is poised to significantly enhance Ghandhara Tyre’s manufacturing capabilities. The agreement with SHRC is expected to leverage advanced technical expertise and proprietary technology from SHRC, aiming to refine the production processes at Ghandhara Tyre.
This transition is part of Ghandhara Tyre’s broader strategy to diversify its technology sources and improve its competitive edge in the international tyre market. The company’s proactive approach in seeking alternative technology suppliers reflects its commitment to innovation and quality improvement in its product offerings.
