Multan, In a significant event at Multan Airport, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani oversaw the departure of the first Hajj flight, marking the commencement of the Hajj operation from this facility.
According to Senate of Pakistan, “It is a great pleasure to be here today to see off the pilgrims embarking on this sacred journey,” said Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. He highlighted the convenience added by the new four-hour travel time from Multan to Madinah, emphasizing the enhanced focus on the pilgrims’ spiritual experience. Gilani called on the travelers to act as dignified representatives of Pakistan, maintaining discipline and decorum throughout their pilgrimage.
The Chairman further encouraged the pilgrims to remember the challenges Pakistan faces, including terrorism, and to pray for the nation’s progress and the souls of the martyred soldiers and civilians. He acknowledged the contributions of the security agencies, such as the Airport Security Force and the Federal Investigation Agency, in maintaining safety for the travelers.
Highlighting the economic considerations, Gilani noted the reduced cost of this year’s pilgrimage compared to the previous year, which has made the journey more accessible. He expressed his hope that the 13,000 pilgrims from South Punjab embarking on the pilgrimage this year would carry the spirit of Pakistan with them and act as ambassadors of the nation.
The event concluded with the Chairman Senate extending his best wishes to the pilgrims for a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey.
