Government to Procure 1.8m Tons of Wheat Under PASSCO: PM

Lahore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the federal government will procure 1.8 million metric tons of wheat through the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) to ensure maximum benefits to farmers,

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chairing a high-level emergency meeting in Lahore today to address wheat procurement and the challenges faced by farmers in obtaining gunny bags, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the economic welfare of farmers will not be compromised. He highlighted the abundant wheat harvest this year and directed officials to personally oversee wheat procurement processes.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif established a National Food Security Committee aimed at facilitating farmers in wheat procurement and addressing their concerns. The committee has been tasked with implementing measures within four days to safeguard the interests of farmers.

The meeting, attended by Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Attaullah Tarrar, and other relevant officials, saw detailed discussions on wheat procurement strategies.
