Government’s Swift GST Refund Disbursement Receives Praise from Industry Leader Sheikh Umer Rehan

Karachi, The government’s prompt issuance of sales tax refunds, totaling 65 billion rupees, has been commended by Sheikh Umer Rehan, former President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI). This action, aimed at addressing the immediate needs of the textile industry, has been recognized for its potential to spur investment, enhance the sector’s capacity for export demands, and ultimately contribute to increased national revenue.

According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Rehan appreciated Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s rapid response to the industry’s concerns but also called for the government to broaden its scope of attention to encompass challenges faced by other sectors. He highlighted the pressing need to combat smuggling and the importance of a united approach in crafting a long-term economic strategy that benefits various industries.

With the advent of Ramadan, Rehan emphasized the urgency of implementing measures to prevent hoarding and control inflation. He advocated for engaging all stakeholders in the decision-making process to devise effective sector-specific solutions. Rehan expressed optimism in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, urging concrete actions to navigate the economic crisis, mitigate inflation, and reduce production costs. He believes that such steps are crucial for promoting industrialization, boosting business confidence, and positioning Pakistan on a trajectory of positive economic growth.
