Srinagar, Shabir Ahmed Shah, a senior Hurriyat leader and Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, has issued a strong condemnation of what he calls the ongoing “bloodbath” of Kashmiris by Indian forces in Jammu and Kashmir. From Tihar Jail, Shah’s message highlighted recent violent incidents and criticized the Indian government’s approach to the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shah’s comments came in the wake of the deaths of two Kashmiri youths in Pulwama, which he described as part of a deliberate Indian strategy to destabilize the region. He accused the BJP-led government of maintaining unrest in Kashmir to advance its Hindutva agenda, which he argues has exacerbated the situation and fostered communal tensions.
Shah also alleged that Indian forces have been staging encounters to kill civilians and label them as foreign terrorists, a tactic he claims is aimed at suppressing the Kashmiri population. He urged the Indian government to abandon its current policies and engage in meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders to resolve the longstanding dispute peacefully.
His call includes resuming talks aimed at a substantive and time-bound resolution, emphasizing that the Hurriyat leadership remains open to negotiations with both India and Pakistan to achieve a lasting peace.
