ICCI Delegation Engages in Business Exploration in USA and Egypt

Islamabad, A delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), with a focus on enhancing business collaborations and exploring new avenues for trade, has recently undertaken visits to both the USA and Egypt.

According to a news release by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the ICCI delegation’s visit to the USA, led by Ameer Hamza, Convener of the ICCI Delegations Committee, centered around participation in the 3-day Florida International Medical Expo (FIME) in Miami. The event attracted over 13,500 health professionals from 116 countries and featured displays from more than 1150 exhibitors in the healthcare sector. This expo offered the ICCI representatives an excellent platform to engage with attendees, gather insights, and witness the latest advancements and products in the healthcare industry.

Members of the ICCI delegation to the USA, including Faseeh Ullah Khan, Imtiaz Abbasi, Ashfaq Hussain Chatha, Hamayun Kabir, Zia Khalid Chaudhry, Abdul Rehman Siddiqui, among others, convened with representatives of the US healthcare industry, manufacturers, and members of the US Commercial Service. The aim of these discussions was to gauge the feasibility of enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and the USA.

Highlighting the current state of trade, Ameer Hamza stated that in 2022, the USA reported exports exceeding US$ 2 trillion and imports surpassing US$ 3 trillion. Yet, the bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and the USA stood at merely around US$ 7-8 billion. He emphasized the potential of both nations and proposed more frequent delegation exchanges to tap into overlooked areas for boosting trade. Hamza believes that the ICCI’s participation in the Florida International Medical Expo will pave the way for expanded business ties between Pakistan and the USA.

In a subsequent venture, another ICCI team, again spearheaded by Ameer Hamza, traveled to Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt. Their objective was to assess the Egyptian market’s potential for trade and exports. During their visit, the delegation engaged with the proprietor of the Parrotel Lagoon, a renowned 5-star resort in the Middle East. Their dialogues explored opportunities for fostering tourism collaboration between Egypt and Pakistan. Furthermore, the ICCI team extended an invitation to Egyptian investors, highlighting the promising prospects in tourism and other sectors of Pakistan’s economy. Zulqarnain Abbasi, Convener of the ICCI Tourism Committee, Maqsood Tabish, and others represented the ICCI during this visit.
