Srinagar, The Chairman of the International Forum for Justice Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, has filed a petition with multiple international human rights organizations against the Indian Army. The complaint, directed at bodies including the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi, Amnesty International in the UK, Human Rights Watch in Switzerland, the UNOHRC in Geneva, the European Union in Brasília, and the International Criminal Court, alleges various human rights abuses by the army personnel.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Kupwara police station cites multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code. The charges include rioting, robbery, kidnapping, and an attempt to murder among others. Specifically, the FIR mentions sections such as voluntary obstruction of a public servant, voluntarily causing harm to deter a public servant from duty, wrongful confinement, and the use of a deadly weapon during a robbery.
Muhammad Ahsan Untoo has urged for a thorough investigation into these incidents, insisting on a process free from any influence. He alleges that the Indian Army’s involvement in these cases has been explicit and aggressive, exacerbated by permissions from high-ranking officials to engage in acts of violence and intimidation against the residents of occupied Kashmir.
