India using draconian laws to suppress Kashmiris’ voices

Islamabad, March 06, 2020 (PPI-OT):The President of Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), Altaf Ahmed Butt has said that India is using to draconian laws to suppress Kashmiris’ indigenous liberation movement by arresting youth and minors. Altaf Ahmed Butt talking to media in Islamabad, today, said that future of Kashmir was being snatched by arresting and torturing school going children and youth.

He said that the Modi government using draconian laws was arresting minors and youth to put pressure on their families and relatives to stop raising voice for freedom. Altaf Butt said that in February, 138 civilians were arrested and five people including two minors were detained on alleged misuse of social media. Indian police and agencies in occupied Kashmir arrest anyone who tries to expose the vandalism of Indian forces in the villages.

He further said that Modi and his companions Amit Shah, Ajit Doval and Army chief must be tried at International Court of Justice for the violation of human rights, extra-judicial killings, detention and torture of minors, molestation and rape of women by army and police, mass graves and putting the valley under severe lockdown.

He mentioned the role of international media and said that the international media was exposing the true face of India and Modi. It is high time to raise the voice of besieged people of Kashmir on every platform so that the real democratic countries of the world would see the fascist and Hindutva-inspired so-called democracy of India, he added.

Altaf Butt said that in 2016, the United Nations made an addition to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.” But for the besieged people of Kashmir, the international humanitarian organizations couldn’t take practical steps stop the rights violations and redeem their right to self-determination as per the resolutions of the United Nations, he deplored.
