Raipur: In a recent surge of violence in Chhattisgarh, Indian security forces have killed three individuals, two of whom were women, amid ongoing operations against alleged Maoist activists in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the deaths occurred during separate incidents in the Bastar zone of Dantewada and near the villages of Tumar Gatta and Singavaram in Sukma district. The first operation resulted in the deaths of two women, one identified by Indian police as ACM Sukki, a known activist within the CPI (Maoist) Divisional Committee. The subsequent anti-Naxalite maneuver led to the fatality of a young male in the vicinity of Jagargunda police station limits.
These individuals were designated as members of the Naxalite/Maoist movement, which seeks independence from what it views as Indian oppression. The local authorities, under the BJP-led government, frequently classify various marginalized groups, including tribal communities and Dalits, as Naxalites, particularly those vocal in their demand for autonomy and justice across several Indian states.
This year alone, official reports state that over 142 alleged Naxalites have been killed by security forces in Chhattisgarh.
