Indian Muslims Express Concerns Over Modi’s Policies and Marginalization

New Delhi, Muslims across India have voiced their concerns over the possible return of the Modi government to power, fearing further marginalization and discrimination if his administration secures another term.

According to Kashmir Media Service, despite being in office for a decade, the Modi administration appears set on pursuing another term, which has raised fears within the Muslim community. Indian Muslims have pointed to recent statements by Modi suggesting a decisive victory in upcoming elections, leading to concerns about a strengthened Hindutva-centric agenda.

Over the past decade, Muslims in India have felt increasingly targeted by government policies. They have reported numerous instances of discrimination and marginalization, such as the demolition of homes, businesses, and places of worship under the guise of illegal encroachments. Additionally, amendments to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have caused concern about the erosion of basic rights for Muslims, with the potential of rendering them stateless.

The sense of fear and insecurity has impacted the daily lives of Indian Muslims, who often face police harassment during routine activities, including prayer. Many members of the Muslim community express a sense of disenfranchisement and injustice, citing biased treatment from both the government and law enforcement agencies.

As the political environment remains tense, Indian Muslims are calling for fair and inclusive governance that does not polarize communities along religious lines. They emphasize the importance of addressing core issues such as access to basic facilities and equitable development across all regions, particularly in underdeveloped areas like Bihar.
