Information Minister Attaullah Tarar Champions Technology Enhancement and Public-Private Partnerships

Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, at a summit today, underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing technology and fostering public-private partnerships to attract foreign investment. He announced the creation of the Special Investment Facilitation Council aimed at bolstering investment in the country.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar emphasized the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council as a pivotal move for the nation’s interest, ensuring comprehensive support to investors. He highlighted Pakistan’s position as the fifth largest country globally, rich in natural resources and human capital, which he described as the nation’s greatest asset. The Minister stressed the importance of leveraging and marketing this human resource internationally.

In addition, the Minister reinforced the government’s approach to public-private partnerships, noting that the Federal Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has approved a Public Private Partnership Policy Framework to streamline foreign investment. He cited accolades from international financial institutions and journals, which forecast significant growth and improvements in Pakistan’s economy.

Tarar pointed out that Pakistan annually produces about fifty thousand graduates in engineering and IT who are competitive on a global scale. He discussed the potential for Pakistan to tap into the $550 billion semiconductor industry, urging companies at the summit to present concrete proposals for chip design and semiconductor manufacturing.
