Interior Minister meets Prime Minister – Press Note issued by Press Information Department

Islamabad, April 13, 2013 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Justice ® Mir Hazar Khan Khoso met the Minister for Interior Malik Muhammad Habib Khan at the Prime Minister’s House this morning.

During the meeting the issue of statement made by the Interior Minister pertaining to a political leader came under discussion.

The Interior Minister apprised the Prime Minister that the statement ascribed to him regarding a political leader was made with good intensions. However, his expression has created an impression which was not intended.

The Interior Minister further informed the Prime Minister that he has reached out to all political parties and has maintained contacts with them without any discrimination with a view to maintain a conducive environment.

While talking to Malik Habib Khan the Prime Minister said that the mandate of the caretaker government was not only to ensure free, fair, transparent and credible elections but also to maintain a conducive environment for the upcoming general elections. It is, therefore, necessary that the caretaker government, its Ministers and the government machinery not only conducts itself impartially but also seen to do so.

The Prime Minister said that the caretaker government is obliged to conduct the affairs of the government in the run up of elections where no one can raise questions about its probity.

The Prime Minister said that he expects the caretaker government, its Ministers and the government machinery to focus their energies for holding general elections and devote themselves to making necessary arrangements in this regard.
