Islamabad, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the initiation of construction projects for a forensic laboratory and a prison in the federal capital to bolster public safety and crime management.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during his visit to the Public Facilitation Center, Minister Naqvi shared details about the government’s commitment to significantly reduce the crime rate in Islamabad. He outlined plans for a major transformation of the capital’s police stations within the next three to four months, including the implementation of a standardized process for filing First Information Reports (FIRs).
The minister also discussed upgrades to the Safe City project, aimed at enhancing surveillance and security measures throughout Islamabad. Additionally, he revealed that a proposal has been submitted to the federal government for the recruitment of two thousand additional police officers, highlighting the need to strengthen the security of Chinese nationals residing in the city.
Minister Naqvi assured that the Public Facilitation Center will operate 24/7, offering twenty-eight different services ranging from excise to traffic-related issues, ensuring comprehensive public assistance around the clock.
Furthermore, during a press briefing at the Parliament House in Islamabad, the Interior Minister elaborated on the development of an effective security strategy for Chinese nationals in Pakistan, indicating that rapid actions are underway to bolster their protection.
He also mentioned forthcoming measures against illegal Afghan nationals in the country, noting that a three-month extension has been granted to Afghan cardholders. Additionally, the minister expressed the government’s intention to simplify visa processes for Sikhs visiting Pakistan.
These initiatives represent a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure and operational capabilities of Islamabad’s law enforcement and security services, reflecting the government’s focus on maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of both residents and international guests.
