Islamabad Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza During OIC Meeting

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. This appeal was made during a sideline meeting at the Open-Ended Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee in Jeddah, where the two leaders discussed various pressing issues including the situations in Gaza and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions focused heavily on the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where Dar highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis and the need for urgent peace measures. Both leaders underscored the necessity of establishing a ceasefire and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

Dar also expressed appreciation for the OIC’s longstanding efforts to support peace in the Middle East and its advocacy for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, in line with OIC resolutions. Additionally, the meeting covered global concerns about Islamophobia, discrimination, and violence against Muslims. The Deputy Prime Minister commended the appointment of the OIC Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Islamophobia, expressing optimism for effective advocacy against these challenges.
