Islamabad, The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) is set to host a World Environment Day celebration featuring a documentary screening, a music performance by Khumariyaan, and discussions with climate activists.
According to United Nations Pakistan, this event, organized jointly with the Aga Khan Foundation, will take place tomorrow from 18:00 to 22:00. It aims to raise awareness and foster community engagement on issues related to climate change and environmental protection.
The highlight of the evening will be the premiere of “When the floods come,” a documentary by Nyal Mueenuddin. This film details a 3,000 km journey along the Indus River, capturing the profound impact of water and climate change on local communities. Following the screening, Khumariyaan, a band known for its deep connection to the cultural heritage of the Indus, will perform.
The event will also feature discussions with notable environmental advocates, including Sirbaz Khan, a renowned alpinist, and Abuzar Madhu, an artist actively engaged in environmental issues. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to explore a Climate Marketplace and food stalls, showcasing local and international environmental initiatives. Entry to the event is free, with the venue’s doors closing once maximum capacity is reached.
