Islamabad: In a significant move to support female mobility and reduce educational dropout rates, the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, announced the allocation of twenty Pink Buses in Islamabad. These buses are intended to provide free transportation for female students, working women, and teachers.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the Question Hour in the National Assembly, Dr. Siddiqui highlighted that the Pink Buses initiative aims to ensure safe and reliable transportation for women, complementing the existing fleet of 311 operational buses that serve the capital’s students. This effort underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing educational access and safety for women.
The session also witnessed a protest by parliamentary reporters, who walked out in response to the use of inappropriate language by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur against journalists and women. The journalists returned after PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan issued an unconditional apology, although PML-N leader Tariq Fazal Chaudhry voiced the reporters’ demand that the apology should directly come from the Chief Minister himself.
