Islamabad, As the monsoon season approaches, bringing with it the increased threat of dengue fever, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the Islamabad administration to ramp up their preventative measures.
According to Press Information Department, Minister Naqvi has tasked Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, with the stringent enforcement of all standard operating procedures designed to curb the spread of dengue. Specific directives include the immediate drainage of water from low-lying areas and the rigorous application of the dengue prevention plan. The minister emphasized that negligence in these efforts would not be tolerated.
Minister Naqvi also mandated enhanced coordination among hospitals and laboratories to track dengue cases and facilitate a unified response. Randhawa informed the minister about the establishment of a working group focused on preventing dengue’s spread, particularly in the border areas between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He highlighted that the administrations of both cities would collaborate closely to implement dengue prevention measures throughout the season. To date, there have been nine reported cases of dengue fever in Islamabad.
