Italy Reaffirms Economic Support for Pakistan During Ambassador’s Visit to Islamabad

Islamabad, In a meeting today with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema, Mrs. Marilina Armellin, the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s development goals. The discussions highlighted ongoing collaborations in poverty reduction, rural development, and other key areas, building on a longstanding partnership initiated in 2005.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting, which also included Mr. Francesco Zatta, Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, and Mr. Augusto Palmieri, First Secretary of the Embassy of Italy, focused on reviewing the progress of projects funded by Italy, including a special assistance package following the 2022 floods. Ambassador Armellin assured continuous support for Pakistan’s economic development, emphasizing mutual priorities such as technical training and agricultural advancement.

Minister Cheema expressed appreciation for Italy’s role in aiding Pakistan’s economic sectors and highlighted the importance of effective implementation of current projects to strengthen bilateral relations further. Both parties discussed enhancing cooperation in various fields, demonstrating a shared commitment to fostering economic and cultural ties.

This meeting underscores the robust relationship between Pakistan and Italy, focusing on collaborative efforts to address economic challenges and promote sustainable development in Pakistan.
