Karachi, In a significant development, Karachi’s city administration has committed to relocating traders affected by the changes at Mairaaj Market and Jubilee Market. The plan involves constructing a new vertical building on Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) land at Gurumandir, which will be developed through a public-private partnership.

According to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the memorandum for this project was signed on Saturday by Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, and Chairman of the Businessmen Group, Zubair Motiwala. The event was attended by key figures, including President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh, Senior Vice President Altaf A. Ghaffar, Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Barry, and Former President Junaid Esmail Makda, among others.

This initiative aims to provide new commercial spaces to the displaced traders, ensuring minimal disruption to their businesses while fostering urban development. The project underscores the city’s effort to balance infrastructure development with the needs of its commercial community.
