Karachi, The Polo Ground in Karachi was the site of the city’s largest Eid prayer gathering this year, organized by the Uzma Karachi Municipality. The event drew a diverse group of attendees, including Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, and various political, civil, and military leaders, along with the Consul General of Morocco, Mirza Ishtiaq Baig.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the gathering featured prayers for national development, prosperity, unity, and solidarity. Following the prayers, Mayor Wahab interacted with citizens, sharing Eid greetings and highlighting the communal spirit of the festival. He emphasized the significance of the Eid celebrations, which coincide with the Hajj and involve widespread animal sacrifices following the traditions of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail.

Mayor Wahab also outlined the local bodies’ substantial responsibilities during Eid, noting that over 100,000 tonnes of waste were expected to be collected over three days. He assured personal oversight to prevent any civic issues, calling for cooperation across political and municipal bodies to ensure efficient waste management and subsequent cleaning measures like lime spraying and fumigation.
