Karachi’s situation considerably improved: Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad

Karachi, May 07, 2015 (PPI-OT): Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said that the federal and provincial governments and law enforcement agencies are focused on elimination of crimes from the metropolis without any discrimination. Talking to Canadian High Commissioner Heather Cruden at Governor House here, he said that situation has considerably improved due to law enforcement agencies’ efforts and it is being acknowledged at every level, said a handout issued here on Wednesday.

He said that Karachi, being a port city, is very suitable for business and investment, as supply and export of goods is easy from here. The Governor said that investment is possible in infrastructure, water supply and sanitation projects in the city, adding that good profits can be earned from value-addition in the field of agriculture. Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan said that uninterrupted power supply to industries is being ensured.

He said that gradual improvement in law and order situation is attracting investors to the city. The Governor said that local governments are a basic part of a democracy, as they are necessary to facilitate people at grassroots level. He said that local government elections are expected in the city this year, adding that constitution of local governments will not only benefit people, but also boost infrastructure development. Canadian High Commissioner Heather Cruden said she will make her best efforts that Canadian investors utilise the investment potential in the city.
