Islamabad: The Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Belarus, H.E. Oljas Bektenov and H.E. Roman Golovchenko respectively, concluded their participation in the 23rd session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and departed from Islamabad, escorted by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan.
According to Press Information Department, during the farewell at Islamabad Airport, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan expressed optimism about future bilateral engagements with Kazakhstan and Belarus, noting their potential benefits for regional cooperation. Both visiting Prime Ministers reciprocated the sentiment, commending the successful organization of the SCO meeting and their hospitable stay in Pakistan, which they described as filled with positive experiences and memorable hospitality.
In a related development, Minister Khan also met with Russia’s Deputy Minister for Transport, Dimitri Zverev, to discuss mutual interests in the communications sector. The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the SCO session, focused on enhancing connectivity through new projects that could link Pakistan with China, Afghanistan, and Central Asian countries via a robust road network. Deputy Minister Zverev expressed Russia’s keen interest in investing in Pakistan’s communications infrastructure.
These discussions underscore the SCO’s role in fostering constructive dialogue and partnerships that contribute to regional development. The presence and active participation of senior officials, including Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Communications and Secretary for Railways, highlighted the strategic importance of these international collaborations.
