Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority Cracks Down on Adulterated Food Supplies

Peshawar, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has taken decisive action against the distribution of adulterated food products, including milk and chicken, as part of its ongoing campaign to protect public health. In a series of raids conducted at key supply points, authorities seized prohibited items and imposed heavy fines on violators.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the operations were particularly focused on checkpoints such as the Motorway Toll Plaza, where the Food Safety Team Peshawar inspected vehicles carrying food items. The inspection led to the destruction of adulterated milk and the imposition of substantial fines. Additionally, owners of chicken supply vehicles were strictly ordered to cease the supply of dead chickens.

Further actions were taken by the Food Safety Team Mardan at Katling Bazar, where 120 kg of prohibited chalia and churan were seized from two bakery shops, resulting in further hefty fines. The Director General of the Food Authority, Wasif Saeed, emphasized that the health of citizens is a priority and that the authority will not tolerate any compromise in food safety standards. He instructed that vehicles supplying food products, especially chicken, should be closely monitored on internal highways and inter-provincial routes to prevent any substandard and adulterated food products from reaching consumers.
