Lahore Accelerates Highway Projects to Boost Regional Connectivity

Lahore, Under the leadership of Provincial Minister of Construction and Communications Malik Soheb Ahmed Bharath, a critical review meeting was held to assess the progress of key highway constructions, including the Murree Improvement Plan, the Sialkot Wazirabad Road, and the Sargodha Bypass.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, during the meeting, updates were provided on several significant infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing transportation links within the province. Minister Bharath highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the Murree area, noting that work on making 14 highways patch-free was progressing under directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The meeting also covered the construction of the 37 km Sialkot Wazirabad highway, which is expected to enhance connections between Sialkot, Lahore via the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway, and the Sialkot Dry Port. Minister Bharath emphasized the importance of completing this project within the next three months to facilitate efficient transport and economic growth.

Additionally, the construction of the 31 km Sargodha Bypass was discussed. The bypass is anticipated to serve approximately 7,000 vehicles daily, significantly easing local traffic and contributing to the area’s development. Minister Bharath reiterated the urgency of completing this project promptly.

These infrastructure initiatives are part of a broader strategy to improve road connectivity and support economic development across Punjab.
