Large scale malpractices, including coercion have been resorted at some polling stations during polling

Islamabad: It has been reported by some TV Channels that a large scale malpractices, including coercion, intimidation and pressures have been resorted to at some polling stations of the constituency No.PP-243 DG Khan-IV during polling process on 07-05-2012. The District Returning Officer of the said constituency has confirmed the happening of alleged incidents over telephone.

2. In view of the information made available to the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding alleged malpractices, etc., the commission of the prima facie view that rigging has taken place during polls in the constituency. Therefore, the commission has directed the Returning Officer not to consolidate the result till further orders.

The commission further directed that the DRO, RO and Presiding Officers of the polling stations where alleged incidents have taken place, shall submit their detailed separate reports as to alleged commission of malpractices, etc. during the polls in the said constituency by 12.00 p.m. tomorrow i.e. the 8th May, 2012 through fax and the original reports will follow through quickest means.
