Local Government system 2001 restored in entire Sindh

Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has signed into law the Local Bodies (LB) Amendment Ordinance 2001 to restore the Local Government system in entire Sindh after rolling back the commissionerate system in Karachi and Hyderabad a day earlier.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday ordered restoration of Local Government (LG) Ordinance 2001 in the entire province.

According to sources, Dr Ebad inked the ordinance in the presence Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, Local Government Minister Agha Siraj Durrani and others.

The Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan on Saturday night promulgated two ordinance to repeal of Sindh Local Government Ordinance for restoring the LG system in Karachi and Hyderabad.

The ordinance was issued for providing congenial atmosphere to promote peace and harmony in the province.

Earlier, Federal Law Minister Imdad Chandio while talking to media said decision to restore LG system in the province was made to stop division of Sindh, adding that masses would see its far reaching impacts.
