Islamabad, June 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that First ever summer internship program for young citizen in National Assembly of Pakistan would provide an opportunity to young generation first-hand experience to be part of legislative procedure. He also said that democracy entails that representative of people in Parliament ensure to work for prosperous and developed state. He also said that Democracy is the only effective way of governance. He also said that Pakistan is progressing day and its Young generation would continue to lead Pakistan on the path of progress.
While emphasizing the need to bridge gap between young generation and Parliament, he also said that, ” Parliament is a place where Political leaders work day and night to change the fate of nation.” He also said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto struggled and sacrificed her life for democracy. He also said that she bravely fought forces of tyranny and continued her struggle against dictatorship till last breath. He also said that it was Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who gave right of vote to our young generation.
The Speaker also condemned the recent vandalism and desecration of our Martyrs, he said that no nation can progress without remembering their martyrs. He also said that it is onus upon our young generation to maintain sanctity of Parliament. Secretary National Assembly Mr. Tahir Hussain also addressed the young interns. He also said that it is an opportunity for young generation to learn about basic functions of Parliament. On this occasion Additional Secretary (Special Initiatives) Syed Shamoon Hashmi has outlined the basic contours of this first ever Summer internship program. He also said that it is first time in history of National Assembly that young citizens have been provided an opportunity to be in Parliament for one month for learning and getting experiences.
After the launch of flagship internship program, Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf along with Secretary WPC Ms. Shahida Rehmani, SDGs Parliament. Task Force Convener Ms. Romina Khursheed Alam and young interns who joined the Assembly today, celebrated Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s 70th birthday. They cut cake and offered Fateha for elevation of her ranks in Jannah.
