Majyd Aziz Advocates for Blue Economy as a Key Focus for Pakistan’s Investment Council

Karachi: Majyd Aziz, former President of the Employers Federation of Pakistan, emphasized the need for the Special Investment Facilitation Council to prioritize the Blue Economy alongside sectors like Agriculture, Mining, and IT. Speaking at the COLMAB 2024 conference in Karachi, Aziz highlighted the potential of Pakistan’s extensive coastline in fostering economic growth and job creation through sustainable ocean resource utilization.

According to Employers’ Federation of Pakistan, Aziz pointed out that Pakistan’s current global export share in the Blue Economy is a mere 0.25%. He advocated for urgent modernization of the Fishery Sector and expansion into renewable energy, maritime transport, and tourism under the Blue Economy framework. Aziz also reflected on his previous tenures, discussing the successful partnerships and initiatives aimed at reducing corruption in maritime activities and optimizing port operations for economic efficiency.
