Minister Sheikh Outlines Job Creation Potential Through Blue Economy Initiatives

Islamabad, Minister of Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh today highlighted the job creation potential of blue economy initiatives, with a particular focus on enhancing operations at Gwadar Port. The Minister’s comments came during a meeting dedicated to boosting import capabilities through the port.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Sheikh emphasized the strategic importance of Pakistan’s geographical location for the regional maritime economy. He noted that the development of Gwadar Port as a major trade hub is expected to spur additional businesses and attract foreign investments. The port’s location provides a direct trade route to Central Asia and the Middle East, which can reduce transportation costs and transit times significantly.

The expansion of Gwadar Port is also projected to create numerous job opportunities, fostering local development and improving the standard of living for the community in the region. These efforts are part of broader government initiatives to leverage the blue economy for job creation, enhanced food security, and economic diversification.
