Islamabad: Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah led a parliamentary delegation to the office of the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator to Pakistan, presenting the unanimously adopted National Assembly resolution on Palestine.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the parliamentary delegation included Federal Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, MNAs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari, Syed Aminul Haque, Anjum Aqeel Khan, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Rana Qasim Noon, Dr. Darshan, Mirza Ikhtair Baig, Dr. Nafisa Shah, and Shazia Marri.
The National Assembly of Pakistan unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the brutality in Gaza and the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh on August 2, 2024. The resolution described Haniyeh’s killing as a “deliberate conspiracy to sabotage efforts to stop the ongoing Gaza conflict.” It noted that Haniyeh’s death in Tehran exacerbated the grief and was seen as an attempt to hinder efforts to end the oppression and brutality against Palestinians and establish peace in the region.
The resolution highlighted that the atrocities by Israel on Palestinians have escalated, resulting in the loss of over 40,000 innocent lives, including women and children. It called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, the provision of sustainable and unhindered humanitarian assistance to Palestinians, and the immediate withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza. The resolution also expressed complete solidarity with Palestinians, asserting that the Israeli leadership aims to expel the Palestinian population from their homeland.
