Naseerabad: A key meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Naseerabad Munir Ahmad Kakar focused on the ongoing efforts to register children in the district, a critical process linked directly to their rights and access to public services. The session was attended by various government officials and NGO representatives, underscoring the collaborative efforts in addressing child registration issues.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting included insights from District Health Officer Dr. Muhammad Hasan Domki and various other stakeholders like MS Dr. Shaukat Khosa, Nadra Incharge Muhammad Younis, and CBR UNICEF Local Government Project Coordinator Tanveer Ahmad Khosa among others. The discussion highlighted the challenges faced by parents in enrolling unregistered children in schools and emphasized the fundamental right of children in Balochistan to have a birth certificate and other registration documents.
Deputy Commissioner Kakar stressed the importance of the registration process and mentioned that an awareness campaign is necessary to educate the populace on this crucial issue. He revealed that there are currently 10 centers operational within Naseerabad dedicated to this purpose. Since the project’s inception in 2020, there has been significant progress, but with a target to register 10,000 children in the district, efforts are being intensified.
So far, 3,363 children have been successfully registered. The authorities are not only focusing on increasing these numbers but also ensuring that each child receives their due certification. UNICEF has also pledged continued support for this vital initiative, highlighting the combined efforts of health departments and other sectors in Naseerabad.
The collaborative meeting showcased the unified approach required to handle the registration of children, which is pivotal for their future access to educational and health services. With ongoing support and enhanced awareness programs, the district aims to meet its child registration targets effectively.
