NDMA and Climate Change Coordinator Discuss Enhanced Preparedness Strategies at NEOC

Islamabad, In a focused effort to bolster national resilience against climate-induced emergencies, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik met with Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change, at the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) today.

According to National Disaster Management Authority, Chairman Malik provided an in-depth briefing on the operational capabilities of NDMA’s NEOC, which include advanced weather projections, early warning dissemination, anticipatory action mechanisms, and risk communication strategies aimed at community preparedness.

During the meeting, PM’s Coordinator Alam commended the efforts of NDMA and highlighted the critical need for enhancing the nation’s preparedness frameworks. She emphasized the integration of climate considerations into broader policy frameworks and operational strategies across various sectors to better manage climate-related risks.

Chairman Malik underscored the significance of leveraging technological advancements and strengthening inter-agency collaboration to enhance the nation’s defensive posture against potential climate-related disasters, signaling a strategic pivot towards comprehensive national readiness.
