NDMA Issues Flood and Landslide Warnings Following Heavy Rain Forecast

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Emergencies Operation Center has issued a forecast predicting significant rainfall across various regions of Pakistan over the next three days, raising concerns about potential urban and flash flooding, as well as landslides.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the NDMA has warned that rainfall ranging from 50-100 mm could trigger urban and flash floods in local nullahs and river tributaries in cities such as Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, and Rawalpindi. Additionally, areas like Galiyat, Kashmir, Kohistan, Mansehra, and Murree are identified as vulnerable to landslides and flash floods.

Provincial Disaster Management Authorities and local administrations have been advised to monitor the situation closely and prepare to protect at-risk populations. The NDMA has also recommended that the public maintain household drainage systems, exercise caution while traveling to landslide-prone areas, and stay updated through the NDMA’s mobile alert application.
