New local government system to bridge urban-rural divide, says Governor Sindh

Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said that the vacuum between the rural and urban areas is being minimised under the new local government system.

The governor said that this would soon be adopted through assembly after taking all the coalition parties into confidence.

“Karachi has a unique and historical status due to its population and obviously Karachi is the lifeline of the country and if it is affected then the economy of the whole country would get affected,” he added.

The governor said that Karachi has a network of Goths and their problems were being resolved by the government on priority basis.

The governor said that some elements wanted to create law and order problems continuously for which the administration had to work round-the-clock to check the same.

He said that the Japan had been taking much interest in Karachi circular railway project and some positive results were awaited.
