Karachi: A high-level delegation from the National Tariff Commission (NTC), led by Chairman Naeem Anwer, met with representatives of the Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association (PYMA) to discuss challenges confronting Pakistan’s textile sector, particularly those related to anti-dumping measures. The discussions aimed at strengthening the industry’s competitiveness and export potential.
According to a statement by Pakistan Yarn Merchant Association, the meeting included key figures from both organizations. The NTC delegation comprised Chairman Naeem Anwer, Member Iqbal Tabish, and Deputy Director Mazhar Ghafoor. PYMA was represented by Vice Chairman of the Sindh and Baluchistan Region Altaf Haroon, along with former central and vice chairmen, and other executive committee members.
The dialogue focused on issues affecting the textile industry, a crucial component of Pakistan’s economy. An in-depth study by the NTC, titled “Industrial Competitiveness and Export Growth of the Textile Sector Including MMF,” was presented to address these challenges and to propose strategies for enhancing the sector’s global presence.
Anti-dumping measures were a central topic, with both parties examining their significant impact on the industry. The meeting explored strategies to mitigate these effects and discussed the specific data required to develop effective policies. PYMA expressed its commitment to providing the necessary information, highlighting a cooperative effort to support Pakistan’s textile export growth.
