Over 53,000 Sikhs Participate in Khalistan Referendum in Calgary

Calgary, Canada: A significant number of Sikhs, totaling over 53,000, recently participated in a referendum for Khalistan, organized by Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) in Calgary.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the leader of SFJ, addressed the Sikh community via video link at the referendum’s conclusion. He emphasized the community’s determination to establish Khalistan through democratic means and criticized the Indian government’s actions towards Sikhs, particularly citing the death of Hardeep Singh. Pannun warned that if courts failed to deliver justice, the Sikh community might seek “Khalsai Insaf” (Khalsai Justice).

The referendum drew attention not only for its political implications but also for the spirited participation of voters. Long lines were reported outside the polling center, with the administration eventually extending voting hours to accommodate the turnout. The event was marked by cultural expressions as well, with artists and singers performing pro-Khalistan songs, contributing to a charged atmosphere of support for the movement.
