Pakistan and Azerbaijan Commit to Broadening Cooperation Across Multiple Sectors

Islamabad, In a significant move towards strengthening bilateral ties, Pakistan and Azerbaijan have agreed to deepen their cooperation across a wide range of sectors including business, banking, information technology, tourism, energy, sports, health, and transport. This commitment was solidified during a meeting in Islamabad between Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Cheema, and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, setting the stage for enhanced collaboration between the two countries.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions aimed at exploring avenues for mutual benefit underscored a mutual desire to accelerate progress through the organization of Joint Working Group meetings. Minister Cheema and the Azerbaijani Ambassador also deliberated on the importance of bolstering people-to-people contacts, in addition to their focus on economic and sectoral cooperation.

Minister Cheema highlighted the ongoing collaborative efforts under the Joint Commission mechanism, covering an expansive range of sectors such as Trade and Investment, Defence Industry, Agriculture, Energy, Health, Transport, Banking, Tourism, Sports, Culture, and Information Technology. He also noted the meticulous work of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in overseeing the implementation of decisions from the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Joint Commission.

Expressing anticipation, Cheema conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to host the forthcoming session of the Joint Commission, emphasizing the importance of scheduling the session at the earliest possible date. Echoing this sentiment, the Azerbaijani Ambassador stressed the prompt convening of the Joint Commission within the current year in Pakistan and highlighted the potential impact of resuming direct flights between the two nations on trade and tourism.

This bilateral commitment reflects a shared vision for a strengthened partnership, promising a future of closer cooperation and mutual development between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
