Pakistan and Iraq Discuss Security and Defense Cooperation in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: In a significant meeting at the Joint Staff Headquarters, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan, hosted Lt Gen Ahmed Dawood Salman, Secretary Defence of Iraq. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral security and defense cooperation, reflecting both countries’ commitment to addressing the evolving security environment.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, the talks between the two nations covered a range of topics of mutual interest, particularly the current security dynamics and opportunities for strengthening military and defense strategies. The visiting Iraqi dignitary praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and recognized the considerable sacrifices made by the Pakistani people and its military in combating terrorism.

The meeting underscores a continuing effort to foster a deeper security partnership between Iraq and Pakistan, aiming to leverage each other’s capabilities in promoting regional stability and security.
