Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Deepen Economic Ties in Key Meetings at World Economic Forum in Riyadh

Riyadh, In a series of high-profile meetings at the World Economic Forum’s Special Meeting, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan engaged with several top Saudi officials to bolster economic and environmental cooperation between the two nations. These discussions focused on expanding energy projects, enhancing agricultural partnerships, and fostering overall economic growth.

According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif first met with His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, Saudi Minister of Energy, where discussions centered on potential investments in Pakistan’s energy sector. The meeting, which also included executives from Aramco and ACWA Power, highlighted opportunities for developing renewable energy initiatives and enhancing energy infrastructure in Pakistan. The Saudi Energy Minister acknowledged the significant contributions of Pakistanis in the development of Saudi Arabia and expressed interest in pursuing the energy projects outlined by Prime Minister Sharif.

Later, Prime Minister Sharif met with H.E. Faisal Al-Ibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning, and H.E. Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. These talks emphasized the agricultural sector’s potential, with Prime Minister Sharif proposing that Pakistan could become a major food supplier for the Kingdom, thereby playing a vital role in regional food security.

The discussions also reflected on the fruitful dialogues held in Islamabad earlier in April, where Saudi agriculture companies expressed keen interest in joint ventures that could enhance the agricultural value chains between the two countries. The Saudi Minister for Environment, Water, and Agriculture valued Pakistan’s strategic advantages in agriculture, noting the sector as a significant area for bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Sharif lauded the successful hosting of the World Economic Forum Special Meeting by the Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning, praising the Kingdom’s leadership in addressing global economic challenges and instabilities.

These meetings are part of a broader effort to reinvigorate economic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with both sides showing renewed commitment to launching mutually beneficial projects soon.
