Islamabad: Pakistan and South Korea have signed a significant agreement aimed at enhancing economic cooperation, signaling a new phase in their bilateral trade relations.
According to a statement by Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, South Korea’s Minister for Trade, Inkyo Cheong, outlined plans to relocate Korea’s industrial base to Pakistan. This move is expected to create opportunities in various sectors, including food, information technology, minerals, textiles, and logistics.
This collaboration is part of the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s (SIFC) initiatives to attract international partnerships and boost Pakistan’s economy. The agreement is underpinned by Pakistan’s competitive labor costs and liberal investment policies.
Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal, remarked on the potential for $1.3 billion in annual trade between the two nations. He also stressed the significance of Pakistani businesses learning from South Korea’s technological advancements.
The agreement reflects a mutual commitment to fostering trade, investment, and strengthening diplomatic ties.
