Pakistan and Turkiye Commit to Strengthen Economic Relations

Islamabad, Pakistan and Turkiye have pledged to deepen their economic partnership, aiming to significantly enhance investment and bilateral trade volumes in a series of high-level discussions.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the dialogue, featuring Turkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Mehmet Pacaci, and Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema, focused on preparing for the upcoming session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. The council aims to increase bilateral trade to five billion dollars. Discussions also included the potential establishment of a Turkish bank branch in Pakistan, underscoring the commitment to strengthen financial ties and economic cooperation.

Minister Cheema highlighted the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s role in attracting foreign investment, particularly emphasizing opportunities in agricultural machinery and large-scale corporate farming. Both sides agreed on the importance of enhancing Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) collaboration, with the Turkish Ambassador expressing Turkiye’s keen interest in expanding trade and cooperation across sectors like energy, banking, commerce, railways, and tourism.
