Pakistan and U.S. to Expand Educational Cooperation, Says Federal Minister

Islamabad: Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, met with a senior delegation from the New York State Assembly led by Deputy Speaker Mr. Phil Ramos, discussing the enhancement of educational collaboration between Pakistan and the United States.

According to Press Information Department, during the meeting on July 4, Dr. Siddiqui praised the U.S.’s role in helping bridge Pakistan’s educational gaps and expressed appreciation for ongoing collaborative projects. He emphasized the need to expand these initiatives, particularly in technical and vocational education, to better serve Pakistan’s large youth population.

Highlighting the critical issue of the 22.8 million out-of-school children in Pakistan, the Minister stressed the importance of increasing cooperation in non-formal education sectors and enhancing faculty and student exchanges. Dr. Siddiqui also called for improvements in Pakistan’s educational assessment and monitoring mechanisms and urged for more university-level collaborations between the two countries. He expressed optimism that through strengthened cooperation, Pakistan could effectively address its educational challenges.
