New York, In a notable plea for reform, Pakistan has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to establish a robust mechanism to ensure the consistent and uniform implementation of its resolutions, focusing particularly on protracted disputes.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this appeal was made during the UNSC Open Debate on “The Working Methods of the Security Council.” Usman Jadoon, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, highlighted the critical need for the Council to enhance its effectiveness and reliability. He pointed out that the UNSC’s inability to ensure the enforcement of its own resolutions significantly erodes its credibility and effectiveness in maintaining global peace and security.

Pakistan’s call reflects broader concerns regarding the operational dynamics of the Security Council and underscores the urgency for procedural reforms to bolster the council’s role in resolving longstanding international conflicts.

Karachi, In a significant move to steer the province’s administrative affairs, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has inaugurated a 13-member cabinet alongside three advisors, marking the commencement of a fresh phase of governance. The oath-taking ceremony introduced the cabinet members to their responsibilities, with Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon taking charge of the Transport and Mass Transit Department as well as Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control. Other key appointments include Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho overseeing the Health Department and Population Welfare Department, and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah Rizvi heading the Energy Department and Planning and Development.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the allocation of portfolios reflects a strategic approach to address the province’s diverse challenges and capitalize on its opportunities. The cabinet’s composition is tailored to leverage the expertise of its members in fostering development across vital sectors. Syed Sardar Ali Shah will manage the School Education and Literacy Department, College Education Department, and Mines and Minerals Development Department, while Saeed Ghani takes the helm of the Local Government and Housing Town Planning Department, among others.

The advisors appointed include Allah Danu Khan Bhiu for the Forest and Wildlife Department, Ehsanur Rehman Mazari for the Inter-Provincial Liaison Department and Cooperative Department, and Syed Najmi Alam, tasked with Human Settlement, Local Development, and other significant areas. This strategic assembly of cabinet members and advisors is poised to navigate Sindh through its next development chapter, with a focus on enhancing public services and fostering economic growth.

Following the ceremony, Chief Minister Shah paid his respects at Mazar-e-Quaid, laying floral wreaths and offering prayers, a symbolic gesture underscoring the government’s commitment to the nation’s founding values and vision. This new cabinet formation signals a pivotal moment for Sindh, aiming to bring about transformative changes across various sectors under the guidance and leadership of experienced ministers and advisors.

Islamabad, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja has officially taken office as the Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, marking a new phase in the Ministry’s leadership. Upon her arrival at the Ministry in Islamabad on Tuesday, she was greeted by Secretary IT and Telecommunication Hassan Nasir Jamy, Additional Secretary MoITT Ms. Aisha Humera Moriani, and other high-ranking officials, signifying a warm welcome to her new role.

According to Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Khawaja received an extensive briefing about the Ministry’s operations, including its attached departments and ongoing projects. This introductory session was aimed at providing the new Minister with a comprehensive overview of the Ministry’s current initiatives and challenges, as well as the strategic direction envisioned for the IT and telecom sectors in Pakistan.
