Pakistan Calls for Kashmir Resolution in Line with UN Resolutions at ASEAN Forum

Vientiane: At the 31st ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial meeting, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi emphasized the need for resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Qazi commended the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for its role in fostering regional integration and prosperity. He expressed Pakistan’s dedication to regional peace, security, and cooperation and underscored the significance of Pakistan’s relations with ASEAN and its member states.

During his speech, the Foreign Secretary discussed the broader regional conflicts in the Asia-Pacific area, advocating for dialogue and inclusiveness over bloc politics. He specifically highlighted the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, urging a resolution that aligns with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and reflects the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Qazi also addressed other regional concerns, including the ongoing situations in Gaza and Afghanistan, presenting Pakistan’s viewpoints on these critical issues.
