Pakistan Calls on Afghanistan to Develop Long-term Solutions for Afghan Refugees

Islamabad: Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Engineer Amir Muqam, has emphasized the need for Afghanistan to implement long-term solutions for its citizens residing in Pakistan, focusing on their sustainable return and integration into Afghan society.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting with Afghanistan’s Charge d’Affaires Sardar Ahmed Khan Shakeeb in Islamabad, Minister Muqam reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to aiding Afghan refugees under the Proof of Registration (POR) system, which has recently been extended for another year due to the ongoing humanitarian challenges. He stressed the importance of a strategic approach to facilitate the eventual repatriation and integration of Afghan nationals.

Charge d’Affaires Shakeeb expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s hospitality towards Afghan refugees over the past four decades and acknowledged the significant impact of extending the POR card validity, which supports the temporary stay of Afghan nationals in Pakistan.
