Pakistan Criticizes US Human Rights Report as Unfair and Politically Biased

Islamabad, The Foreign Office of Pakistan has officially rejected the 2023 Country Report on Human Rights Practices issued by the US State Department, labeling it as unfair and inaccurately reflective of the real situations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Foreign Office criticized the report for lacking objectivity and accused it of politicizing the international human rights agenda by demonstrating double standards, especially by ignoring severe human rights violations in regions like Gaza and Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The statement further outlined concerns over the report’s methodology, which it claims applies a domestic social lens in a politically biased manner to judge global human rights conditions.

The Foreign Office also called for the US State Department to adhere to principles of objectivity, impartiality, and responsibility when assessing complex human rights issues. It emphasized the need for the US to demonstrate moral courage and play a constructive role in addressing urgent human rights crises around the world.

Furthermore, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its human rights framework, promoting the international human rights agenda, and maintaining fairness and objectivity in global human rights discussions.
