Pakistan Election Commission Explores Electronic Voting Technology in Brazil

Brasilia, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, visited Brazil to explore the implementation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in future elections. The delegation engaged in detailed discussions with Brazilian electoral authorities on the operational aspects of EVMs.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Pakistani delegation conducted constructive meetings, including an important session with Alexandre de Moraes, President of the Brazilian Tribunal Superior Electoral. These discussions centered on the technical and administrative processes involved in electronic voting, providing the ECP with insights into one of the world’s most advanced electoral systems.

Further, a spokesperson from the ECP stated that the Commission plans to continue its study of Brazil’s electoral mechanisms, particularly the use of EVMs, as part of pilot projects in Pakistan. The Information Technology Wing and the Project Management Unit of the ECP will jointly develop a future action plan based on their findings from the visit.
