Pakistan Embassy in UAE Hosts Reception to Celebrate Pakistan Day

Abu Dhabi, The Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) held a reception to celebrate Pakistan’s National Day, attracting a diverse crowd of diplomats, senior UAE officials, Emirati nationals, and members of the Pakistani community. His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, served as the event’s chief guest.

According to Press Information Department, the event featured performances by Pakistani artists playing the national anthems of Pakistan and the UAE on traditional instruments, such as the flute and tabla. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi delivered a speech highlighting the significance of the Pakistan Resolution, the struggle to establish a new state, and the country’s journey toward socio-economic development.

Ambassador Tirmizi invited attention to Pakistan’s potential, focusing on a healthy youth population, increasing women’s participation in public life, the country’s rich socio-cultural heritage, tourism potential, and a rapidly growing IT sector. He emphasized that the new government was committed to pursuing a progressive agenda, with a focus on achieving economic progress and Sustainable Development Goals.

During his address, Ambassador Tirmizi stressed the importance of dialogue, calling for an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza and reaffirming Pakistan’s stance on resolving the Palestinian issue and the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

He also acknowledged the UAE’s impressive economic growth over the last five decades, attributing it to the visionary leadership of the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and its continued success under the current president, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The ambassador highlighted the strong political and economic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, citing the 1.8 million-strong Pakistani diaspora in the UAE as evidence of their close ties.

The event concluded with cultural performances by children from the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Arab Pakistan School, dressed in traditional attire representing all provinces of Pakistan, showcasing the country’s rich cultural diversity. One of the distinguished Pakistani entrepreneurs, Mudassir Sheikha, received the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, a prestigious award, for his outstanding contributions to business and community service.
