Pakistan Flour Mills Association Delays Strike, Resumes Operations After Government Talks

Islamabad: The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) has decided to postpone their planned nationwide strike until the 22nd of this month following successful discussions with a government committee.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting, convened by a high-level committee formed on the directive of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, addressed the flour milling industry’s concerns regarding the imposition of withholding tax. The PFMA expressed issues about the tax’s impact on their operations and public flour supply. In response, the committee assured the PFMA of working towards a favorable resolution by the specified date. Operations across the nation’s flour mills are set to resume immediately, ensuring uninterrupted wheat product supplies to the market.
